Upsetting News for Clevelanders :(

Published by Cara Lageson at 3:52 PM under General

Over the past few months, I’ve been reading Forbes articles that have been ruthless towards the city of Cleveland. Just this month alone, it was ranked the fourth most miserable city to live in!

Last August, not only was Cleveland ranked the 6th fastest dying city in the US, but it was also proceded by 3 other fellow Ohio cities.

This saddens me as a Clevelander because I’ve lived here my whole life. Yes, I’ve done my fair share of complaining about the bi-polar weather, the grey skies and winters that seem to last over half the year, etc. I recognize the things that are wrong with this city.  I guess what I’m saying is that I see the great things about Cleveland too!  So, over the next few weeks, maybe even months, I want to get some opinions on these topics. I want to know:

1) Why you think Cleveland is special? What you like about living here?

2) What do you think Cleveland’s major issues or problems are? What is hurting us?

3) What can we do to help or fix the problems?

I’ll be going around the city and asking random Clevelanders these questions. I’d love for anyone who has an opinion to post it on here as well!  Maybe if we all start trying to find solutions to the issues at hand, then something can be done.

PLEASE post your opinions! :)

On the bright side, Cleveland was ranked the 16th fittest city by Men’s Fitness. Report Card: http://www.mensfitness.com/city_rankings/420

But, Cleveland was also ranked the 13th drunkest city (most likely due to our roller-coaster sports teams – save the Cavs, since they’ve been consistent), and the city with the sixth most DUI’s.

I, however, cannot talk since Buffalo is #3.

I’d say the best part of Cleveland, for someone struggling financially like myself, is that it is really affordable. I’m sure living in Chicago would be great, but then I wouldn’t be able to afford doing half the fun things that I do out here. :) …How is that for positive thoughts?!

Aside from the manic depressive weather and the sketchy neighborhoods so close to the good ones, I love Cleveland! It has such a heart beat and such a personality! I would like better public transportation since I do not have a drivverrsss licennsseeeee
