Free exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art!

Published by Cara Lageson under Art,Exhibits,General

My dear friend, Breanna, just recently brought to my attention that there is a free, FANTASTIC exhibit at The Cleveland Museum of Art until May 31st! For anyone out there who really appreciates photography, Lee Friedlander’s breathtaking work is up right in our own city. It would be the perfect opportunity to check out something cultural in Cleveland, and besides, it’s free!

Friedlander’s work is based mostly on capturing the typical “American social life”, although I see much more than just that. Check it out for yourself before the exhibit is gone for good.

For more information, visit  The Cleveland Museum of Art website.

If you know of any other artists or exhibits going on this spring, please let me know! I’d love to spread the news to everyone. In the meantime, I’ll be working on getting up that interactive calendar, so that way you can find all the information you need about what’s going on in Cleveland right in one place. Have a great day!

A little break from the usual

Published by Cara Lageson under Art,Bars,General,Music,Shows

I don’t know about you guys, but after doing what feels like “that same ‘ole thing” every weekend, I really need a break from the usual! When I’m feeling like this I absolutely LOVE heading out to Tremont. It’s right outside of Downtown Cleveland and it has some of the most divine restaurants, cool bars, and cultural art galleries in all of Northeast Ohio…hands down. Whether you’re looking for a classier experience with expensive cocktails and dishes, or something more low-key and cozy, Tremont has it all!

Obviously the dirty martinis are extremely tasty :)

One of my favorite places, which just so happens to be right smack dab in the middle of spectrum, is The South Side. The ultra cozy, low-lit bar boasts three different seating areas and usually has a live band. I just have to add that the entertainment is light, not something hinders conversations with fellow bar-goers and leaves your ears ringing for days on end. :) Such a relief…I know!

Besides the main bar, there is  a sunroom area, which has a fire place and all windows, no walls. Beyond that, there is a HUGE outdoor patio framed with beautiful trees, lanterns and even an additional fireplace!

Very cozy, yet hip, atmosphere

Don’t even get me started on the food! The menu is “gourmet american bar” cuisine that seems to take influences from other cultures. For example, I had the yummiest enchilada I’ve ever tasted and I got to try the hummus, which was also delicious! :) The food combined with the fabulous beer, wine and cocktail selection just makes me love this place even more than I thought possible.

I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is sick of the norm and wants to experience a different area of town. It definitely will not disappoint! I posted  The South Side’s website under “Sweet Spots” in my links section if anyone is interested in visiting. So, enjoy! If you do, let me know what you think.  If you’ve already experienced this fabulous spot, please share your opinions below as well! :)

Refreshing views!

Published by Cara Lageson under General

My BRILLIANT friend, Bubba, posted the link to this video and I couldn’t help but share it with everyone! It’s such a nice way to look at Cleveland and the surrounding areas.  It was produced by Glazen Creative, a video production company located right in our very own city! Check it out and let me know what you think!

Also, I’ll have an interactive calendar up soon that will be packed with lots of really interesting things going on around Cleveland! There is PLENTY to look forward to this spring :) If you know of any cool things going on, please post a response and I’ll share it with everyone.
