Cleveland Will Miss You and Your Flowers, Mr. Sarossy
I was so saddened to hear that the recent hit and run on W117th killed a very sweet man I’ve seen around the Warehouse District of Cleveland for years, Tibor Sarossy. He was known as “The Flower Guy” to most of us who frequent the bars of this area, or just work at them. I’ve seen him countless times at The Map Room during shifts. He never drank, but would just come in to hang out with us. He was always giving flowers to our beautiful bartenders and making our patrons smile.
I just wanted to say how much I know we’ll miss you around the Map Room, Mr. Sarossy. Thank you for bringing happiness to the lives of so many around you. I know we’ll always smile when we think of you.
The full story is on cleveland.com and the picture is courtesy of them as well. Thank you for such a wonderful feature for us all to remember him by. Also, thanks to Brittany Matthews for bring this to my attention.
Please feel free to leave your favorite memory of him!
The Map Room, Johnny Malloy’s (on the corner of W. 117th and Clifton), and other neighboring bars, will be collecting donations to help Tibor’s family in this hard time. Anything you can spare would be appreciated, and will help pay for his memorial.

I have to say after reading the article on cleveland.com and the one written here, i’m so sad not to have known the man. What a wonderful life he lived to be remembered so fondly by so many people. I can only hope when I’m gone that people remember me in such a way. May God bless this man’s family and keep him safe by his side for eternity.
Cleveland will certainly miss this man! Tibor made many of my nights at the map room. We just celebrated what he called his 70th birthday last Thursday. According to the article, he just turned 64. He had given Regi and I two maps from his country for Christmas. We will have to display them in a tribute to him at the map room. Thanks for this post, Cara.
